Virtual Exhibit: Design Bindings on Megan Rosenbloom’s, Dark Archives: A Librarian’s Investigation into the Science and History of Books Bound in Human Skin

Lux Mentis, Booksellers, in collaboration with Megan Rosenbloom and textblocks donated by Farrar, Straus and Giroux, are very pleased to debut six unique design bindings by six wonderful, young binders. This exhibition is timed with the Picador release of the trade paperback edition of Megan’s book on anthropodermic bibliopegy, Dark Archives: A Librarian’s Investigation into the Science and History of Books Bound in Human Skin. All books are available and proceeds from the sale of each book will be donated to fund a BIPOC-focused scholarship program at the Guild of Book Workers.

The bindings were created by Gabby Cooksey, Sam Feinstein, Erin Fletcher, Dominic Riley, Rebecca Staley, and Colin Urbina…and reflect a remarkable range of interpretations of and for Dark Archives. Images follow, organized by binder, each name leads to a page dedicated to the given binding. Each profile below leads to a page dedicated to images and descriptions of the specific binding. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or to request additional information.
